Rat Anatomy Compilation.Rats are very fascinating little creatures. They have small hands like humans, minus the thumbs. They are intelligent and social, and each rat has a unique personality. They can also easily stand on their hind legs, making them an easy transition to an anthropomorphic form for stories and art.
Unfortunately, though, they are damn difficult to draw, and there are precious few resources for those wishing to delve into their anatomical structure (certainly me included). So I will be collecting references, both photos and drawings, that I think might be helpful to someone looking to draw my charming friend Rattus norvegicus (and perhaps some of his closest family members). I will probably add to this from time to time as I find new resources, so please feel free to suggest things that you think might be useful!

Mini RantJust something I'm writing because I'm bored.
I think the one thing I hate most about young artists is that alot of times they ignore body types to make the character more "sexy" to them.
Mostly it's with characters that are more muscular and they turn them into bishies. I'm sorry, but Ryu from Street Fighter is supposed to be a tough guy. Making him skinnier and more feminine than Chun Li just creeps me out. Same reaction when you give a twelve year old anime girl boobs the size of watermelons. Believe me, I'm tempted to do the same thing with my pics, but I'm able to put my prefferences aside for accuracy. Not only that, it really hurts your art if you can only draw one body type, so if anything that's a reason to avoid making you Big Macintosh gijinka look weaker than alot of AJ humanizations out there. He's a farmer and he moved a house while under the Love Poison. He should look more like Cody Travers or hell even Cray from BoF IV.

To Odd’s displeasure, the reports are taken back.
