Please forgive any excessive journal spam from me for the next few days! I haven't been on DA much in the last two weeks due to some real life goings-on, but I should be getting back in the swing of things this week, which will include some art (a commissioned comic page and a "Soldier" and/or "Pull Down Heaven" page). I will also be doing some "clean-up" on my main page and my journal section. I'm not a big fan of the new journal system; I'm only human and adverse to change, after all. This means that I will be deleting all topical journals after they are no longer relevant. I will keep up any journals that have tutorials or FAQs, and I will also be setting up a dedicated artist feature journal entry that will be updated periodically.

I also plan on setting up a general FAQ for myself. Are there any questions that you might like to see answered there?

Also, NaNoWriMo fizzled pretty early for me this year. However, I am definitely enjoying the writing process (since it's easier to work on during my lunch breaks than art) and plan to continue it for a bit. I may post some of what I have done here if anyone is actually interested.

Hope everyone is having a fantastic November. :)

I'm actually supposed to be working on my NaNo now (shhh :shifty:) But I'm going to try and keep writing till the end, even if I run into a huge writer's block xD.

An FAQ sounds interesting... I look forward to seeing that!

Ha ha, I will probably keep working on mine, because it's actually a nice break from just doing crossword puzzles on my downtime at work. But there's no way I will be finished at the end of the month! How far have you gotten so far?

D: That really sucks, but as long as you keep writing, at least you can say you participated as well as you could, right?

As for myself, my plot just fell apart. I'm going to keep trying to write it, but right now I'm just so confused as to what's going on... xD

Hehe I started NaNo too but then got overloaded with art projects and haven't written anything for about a week...^^;

Ha ha, yeah, that was pretty much the story of my NaNoWriMo experience this year, too!

I have the same problem with the new journal thing. Unless I take the time to write a really nicely done "story" out of my life like in do in some of my blog posts on other websites, I don't want people to favorite me talking about my life. I deleted just about everything but features and commission journals and such. :c
Glad to see you back though! I was missing your updates.

Oh, totally, I think I would feel very odd and uncomfortable for people to add my "life story" journals to their faves! So I'll probably seriously limit those posts now, and delete the ones that I do write after a period of time. I don't think that I would mind it so much if they separated out journal and deviation faves. :o

Yeah, I agree with that sentiment. When I do want to look for the journals I favorited for useful or interesting content, I don't want to have to leaf through the many pieces of art I've favorited looking for it. It's a totally different reason for favoriting both of those things, I'd rather them be kept in some kind of order. Of course you can use collections and whatnot, but it just feels weird looking through artwork and journals at the same time in favorites.

I decided this year instead of focusing too much on getting to 50000 to instead try new things with how I write, where I write, etc. It's been interesting.

Oh, neat! What's the strangest place that you've written in?

Well, nowhere that strange, unless you count during the boring parts of class. Or waiting outside of a midnight release of a book. Or while waiting in line at that same release.

This NaNoWritMo thing sounds a bit intimidating. ^^; Don't know if I'll ever try it myself.

Anyway, I wish you the very best. :)

Oh, it's totally intimidiating. I barely made it to 10,000 words, ha ha. And that was writing on all of my lunch breaks and while sitting reception at work. But at least I had fun! :D

 Sadly, I gave up on finishing mine by the end of the month! But I think I may continue it at a more leisurely pace. I have been having fun with the characters and setting. I hope you'll manage to catch up! Or, if not, at least be able to keep continuing it afterward.

Love nanowrimo although I had planned to have November empty it all of a sudden became buzzy and I'm desperately trying to catch up on it, rofl. I must get to 50,000!

I don't have any questions I'd like to ask but I can't wait to see what you're written for your story :D

Ha ha, yeah, it *was* going to be a fairly relaxed month for working on it. Oh, how that silly real life sneaks up on you! I'll never catch up for the month, but I will probably keep working on it on my lunch work breaks. I'm having fun with it so far, which is pretty rare. Usually I get tired or writing after a day or two.

Nice to see you back Jamie. :meow:

I just deleted most of my journal entries as well. I don't like this new journal system either.

Hope both jobs aren't keeping you too busy. Haven't heard from the government yet about you staying in Canada yet?

Thanks!

Yeah, although I like the option of adding journals to favourites (to save tutorial journals and such for later perusal), I can honestly say that I hate seeing them mixed in with actual art deviations. I'm sure it was easier on the programmers to combine them, rather than making a separate system for journals, but... I don't know, it just feels like it "cheapens" this place even further. There's already so much non-art around (screencaps, motivations posters, etc) that it doesn't really help to mix in journals as well... especially since the ones that get the most attention tend to be either horribly banal, or drama-laden, or both.

Ha ha, nope, haven't heard a thing yet. Which is both good and bad. Although it's nice to not be told to GTFO yet, sometimes I wish I would just hear one way or the other. So I can either start looking to buy a house or a plane ticket.

I was going to state exactly what you did Jamie- about the more popular journals tend to be drama ridden complaints than actual intelligent, respectful and helpful resources. :| You just have to be popular on DA and then abuse that and use your watchers so "you" can be heard. It's obnoxious in my opinion.

And I do not hope you leave Canada because then I wouldn't want you to move FURTHER from me. I am so selfish. xD
