A collaboration with *Qzurr for the EF artboook cover contest. He did the lineart, and I did the colouring.

You can see Qzurr's awesome lineart here: [link]

Qzurr drew inspiration from the Isandlwana battle (January 22, 1879) when 20,000 Zulu warriors won against the British army. The Zulu warriors were referred to as "Soul Warriors." He also provided me with plenty of reference photos and information to help with the colours.

Medium: Gouache

Artwork is © *Qzurr and *MoonsongWolf

Wow, just WOW. Well I am a sucker for anything African themed, especially when it features one of my fav animals! I LOVE how you coloured this, everything from the fur to shield to the cloth, so many lovely textures! Can I ask what mediums(s) you used?

Same here, I love African themes. :) And I always appreciate the opportunity to colour an African wild dog. They just have the most amazing colour patterns.

I printed out *Qzurr's lineart on Bristol smooth paper, and then I painted it with gouache. I would have loved to have tried traditional watercolour for this one, but unfortunately it doesn't work well with my printer ink.
