Because I keep getting comments on it, I thought that I would add here: Yes, there is a small jump in time between the pages and panels in both this page and the previous page. This trend will continue for the next several pages. I need to show a passage of time (a montage, if you will) without drawing this out unnecessarily. If I show every little event that happens, there will be three dozen pages of "the Daily Lives of Linan and Jeckle" without any plot advancement, which is both boring and unacceptable for me. Sorry if it ends up being a bit confusing!

Medium: Wine, coloured ink, acrylic ink, and graphite.

Wouldn't it be bad for him to get that in his mouth?

So this tiger is a fugitive. He is fighting the power on his way to freedom.

Yes! :D Although the other side undoubtedly sees him as a traitor, not a freedom fighter. I guess it's all a matter of perspective!

will you be providing this as a purchasable comic book once it's completed?

I haven't decided yet! Maybe after it's completely finished, especially since I wouldn't mind having my own hard copy. I'll have to research the publishing options first, though. :)

It may be worth pitching to Sofawolf Press, who published Ursula Vernon's Digger.

I love this comic, and your art in general, and it'd be lovely to have a hard copy.

I suggest perhaps a symbol to help aid in the idea of passage of time.. a tiny window here or there showing the progression of time.. an image of a calendar or book with symbols on it, pages fluttering (think of movies where wind blows and the pages of a book flip and there is a progression of time in the story line). If you are familiar with the Running Wolf comic.. I've noticed that it's author has a very unique way of sound affects. Rather than 'pant pant pant' she uses 'anf anf anf'. It's different but the message is conveyed.

Yeah, the intent with the pawprints is similar to what you are suggesting (symbolic of a passage of time), since they would represent both moving through space and time. I just wish that I hadn't waited until the last two pages to integrate them... I may go back sometime and find a place to add them into the two pages prior to that as well! :)

It's the organic fluid that controls the "muscles" in the golems (robots). :)

Yeah, it's meant to be more of a "viewer interpretation" type of speech than something that is actually readable. But I'm glad that you like it anyway! :D

As I thought, you're showing the passing of time. So I hope this event isn't daily routine. Jeckle looks like she'll have nightmares this night, poor girl!
I love those green pawprints.

Luckily for them, it's just a meeting by chance. I imagine they try to avoid running into golems and enemy tigers in their day-to-day travels. But I think it's a good impetus to move on to a territory that's a bit farther away! :)

what exactly do you use for the boxes the images are in, black ink or graphite? and do u use graphite under or over the colour ink?
Reply
:iconmoonsongwolf:
MoonsongWolf Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2013
The panels are done in graphite (6B pencil, typically). And generally I use the graphite under the coloured ink, but sometimes I have to go back in after colouring and add more details either in graphite or ink. I have a little step-by-step for my comic pages here if you are interested in seeing the individual steps: [link] Hope that helps a little! :)

HOW dont u smear the graphite using water and colour over it??
Reply
:iconmoonsongwolf:
MoonsongWolf Featured By Owner Jan 4, 2013
It does smear a little bit, yes! I use Bristol vellum paper, which has a lot of texture to it, so most of the graphite gets trapped in the texturing and stays put. A little of it smears, though, which I don't mind because it gives everything a "smoother" look. But I have to be really careful not to smear too much graphite from the lighter areas to the darker areas! When that happens, I just use a bit of clean water to try to dilute it back out. Usually that works. And, of course, details get lost sometimes, so I have to add them back in after the ink dries. :)

The use of white space really makes the colors pop. It's a lovely contrast. Also love how the paw prints close the page, adds to this sense of ... progression, maybe? Excuse me. Fevered brain not making much sense. Can't wait for this flu to pass!

Thanks, I'm glad that you liked it! Ha ha, that was the intention with the pawprints, to add to the feeling of... yeah, I think progression is the perfect word. :D And I'm really sorry to hear that you have the flu. I hope you'll get better soon! Being sick is no fun at all, especially when it's right at the end of winter holidays.
