Our Little Secret by MoonsongWolf Our Little Secret by MoonsongWolf
This is a photo manipulation using only my own photos of a white lioness and a striped hyena.

I finally got my tablet to work properly with my new computer, so I decided to do a test manipulation to see if I needed to tweak the settings any more. Seems like everything is running fine. Now I just need to figure out all the buttons and doo-dads on the new version of creative suite. :P

Artwork is *MoonsongWolf

I do a lot of additional over-painting when I do photo manips! It can be a bit time-consuming, but it's definitely worth the extra effort. :)

Yea, it looks so... well done digitally. But that makes me think... perhaps a lot of other people are doing it. I mean, it's good. Neat form of art. But... it's so much harder doing things from scratch. :<

Oh, I agree. Starting from scratch is wicked difficult. I do photo manips as a nice, relaxing break from doing traditional media paintings (which are much more challenging and time-consuming!)

I do think that some (probably not "a lot," but certainly some) people use this technique and then claim to have done their work from scratch. Which is very disappointing. I don't think that there is anything inherently wrong with making artwork like this, as long as you only use your own photos or valid stock photos. But I think it is very wrong to lie about your methods! That's why I try to make it very clear that my paintover photo manips have photos as their base. And I also prefer to use my own personal photos... after all, I put in a lot of work taking the photos! It's not as easy as just using someone elses'.

Exactly. It worse to lie about the way you do that because it's inconsiderate for the people who took the time to learn the difficult way to create something.
