The next little bit is just some descriptive text about my Manx Tribes. Feel free to read on if you are curious, stop here, or just skip to the bottom for medium and copyright information.
Overview
The Ancestral Manx was the single (now extinct) species that was the predecessor of all modern Manxes. Likely, they were the descendants of tailless domestic cats that had resided on their home island for many thousands of years. They lived only on a single island, the Isla of Man, off the coast of the great Northern Continent.
Physical Description
The Ancestral Manx is thought to have looked like a large jungle cat with fur ranging from dark spotted brown to pale tawny striped. Colours such as solid black or white, or white mottled coats, were extremely rare. Most Ancestral Manxes, like the majority of the species descended from them, were tailless.
Life and Social Structure
The Ancestral Manxes lived in very elaborate Great City that was mainly developed through the use of magic. This city-state was heated in winter, had running water, and is said to have been as large as a modern human city. Little is known of the intricate complexities of the Ancestral Manxes' social structure, but it likely that they existed in a caste-based hierarchy. Their diet was likely highly carnivorous, but they did grow plants for ornamental and medicinal purposes. They created very beautiful artifacts and jewelry by magical means, some of which still survive today and are highly sought after.
A Brief History
Although the Ancestral Manx no doubt began to dabble in magic with the most honorable of intentions, they eventually began to lose control of the power that they had sought to tame. According to tales passed down among the Manx Tribes, rogue mages began to violently question the rigid social hierarchy, and many poverty-stricken communities on the outskirts of the Great City. The details of the fierce war that ensued have been lost to time, but the effects can still be seen today; in one great cataclysmic event, the Great City was destroyed and the land was tainted with the aura of dark, rogue magic. To this day, no living thing can thrive on the Isla of Man. This event triggered the Diaspora, which divided the Manx into separate tribes and scattered them across the world.
Nowadays, whenever a Manx refers to his "noble" or "honourable" ancestors, he is likely being facetious.
