This is a photo-manipulation, not a painting. Credits linked at the bottom of the description.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were likely 100,000 tigers in the wild. Today, there are fewer than 5,000. There are more tigers in captivity now than in the wild.

Three of the nine tiger subspecies are extinct: the Javan, the Bali, and the Caspian. A fourth subspecies, the South Chinese, is believed to be extirpated in the wild. The remaining members of this subspecies are kept in captivity, but may not contain the genetic diversity needed to survive.

:XD: AWESOME!! I LUVZ TIGERS!
:iconmoonsplit:
I love tigers so much, and it's so horrible to hear about them going extinct. I mean, why do people want their fur anyway? I think it's much better looking on the actual animal then on a person. Well, I love the picture.

Amazingly beautiful and yes you're were right! Poor tigers, I've helped them for awhile with moneys to some natural park in U.S.A. I love them so very much! Like some other animals in danger in this fucking world...

like Snow Leopards, Wolves, Walses, and so many more! What a cruel world and a sad thing really...

But well, your photo-manipulations is so much great and neat! I love the sky and the snow so very very much! It's brilliant, and the tigers looks pleasul and really lovely. The idea is awesome as usual.

Unfortunately for tigers, it's not poaching for the fur that is the biggest threat. It's poaching for the bones and meat that are used in traditional Chinese medicines, and (even worse) habitat loss. Tigers are an "umbrella species," meaning that to protect them, we must also protect their habitat and prey animals. Which can be difficult to do when their land is taken for farms or logged, often illegally.

They're amazing animals. On the bright side, with the large number in captivity, they will probably never truly go "extinct"... but their future in the wild is definitely uncertain!

Consider the daffodil. And while you’re doing that, I’ll be over here, looking through your stuff.

I'm planning on "adopting" an Amur tiger at one of our local animal parks, as soon as I save up some extra money. Good for you for helping these wonderful animals! I'm sure they appreciate all the help they can get. :)

Mmm yeah, soon they'll only be found in frames...

I've been looking for an habitat or animal-organization to put in my will, maybe one for tigers is a good idea.

This is beautiful and sad at the same time. I like the title as well.
I am in awe of your photo manipulation skills. I keep telling myself that I should try it but... I'm to lazy to do it and I doubt I'd have the patients for it. XD
