You know, as much as I love animal-related movies, I have still never seen Spirit. I might have to see if it's on Netflix sometime... Ha ha, yeah, I wasn't too overly concerned with composition on this one, I just wanted to get myself back into drawing. I think if I decided to tackle this one seriously, I would put them in the lower right portion of the drawing and leave enough room for all of Val's tail.
Your technique is really lovely, the wine really adds something to the picture. And the tigress has such a beautiful coat! I was wondering, what is the story behind these two? Are they a part of the Vesper Facility stories??
Thanks, I'm glad that you liked it! I actually have a short story started that tells the history of these two characters, but I have no idea when it will actually be finished. But I can tell you the basic idea. They do indeed live in the Vesper Facility. The tigress Valkyrie is actually the sister of a character who will be appearing in Pull Down Heaven later! She was severely injured in a fight with another tiger over territory, and now little Ned the rat sort of acts as her "seeing eye rat."
OMG I've missed these two! I love how Ned is like AAAHHHHH *throws arms up*, and I love Valkyrie. Her colors are so incredibly pretty and they fit PERFECTLY with your wine coloring I love how you color with wine. It's so freakin' cool. And coffee. I have that Switchie and Ckazz coffee picture you drew for me hanging up on my wall and I'm always kind of bummed when it doesn't smell amazing. BUT STILL. The chain is really cool! I love the way it makes your eyes run right up to the characters. Definitely a neat trick! Eeee I hope you do more of these two!
Yeah, I've been neglecting these two poor peeps! I swear, one day, I am going to sit my butt down and actually FINISH the short story that I started writing about them. Maybe I'll start doing that on my lunch breaks when school starts back up again... when it's summer break, I'm usually too busy wasting my break by napping in the library's beanbag chairs to actually do anything productive.
Aw, I know, it's a bummer that the coffee loses its smell eventually. It's the same with vanilla stain. It smells soooo damn good while you're working on it, it's such a disappointment when the scent is gone a few months later.
