ACEO Cards: Tasmanian Natives by MoonsongWolf ACEO Cards: Tasmanian Natives by MoonsongWolf
A (very overdue) set of ACEO cards for *kailavmp. She just requested an animal, but I couldn't choose just one. So I took the opportunity to try my hand at three Tasmanian critters that I don't get to draw often: the brush-tailed possum, the tiger quoll, and the rakali.

An ACEO is a 2.5" X 3.5" drawing, the size of a regular trading card. There are three stacked here, one with each animal.

Can't believe it... my first finished art piece in almost two months. I feel sad that it has been so long, but I'm hoping this will get the creative juices going again.

Medium: coloured ink, coloured pencil, and acrylic

Artwork is *MoonsongWolf

Is that a swimming rat?
(Missed you terribly, by the way! I  understand the absence of muse, tho!)

Yeah, it is! The rakali is also known as the Australian water rat. They're very cool animals! I would love to see one in real life someday. :)

And I appreciate the kind comment! I've been able to get online (and work on art) more in the last week, so things are getting a little better here. Hope you've been doing well!

asdfggjhtregvw three? Now I think I really should add a card/two for you as well. D:

As you said colours are much different, I won't comment them here, but overall colour scheme is really lovely- many clean colours and smooth transitions, exctly what I struggle with most of time, heh. :D

And animals, I am sure, need more research from my side! They all seem really interesting and quite unknown, so thank you for choosing critters like that- this is exactly why I have so open request. *-* Moreover, they seem very well drawn from anatomical aspect, and I love the fur! And they fit the environment really well! (Have I mentioned the water surface? I can't stop staring at it.)

Thank you a bunch! *-*

Oh, hey, don't worry about it! It was so much fun getting the chance to draw some creatures that I don't normally get the chance to draw. :D

And I'm really glad that you liked these. I hope that you will enjoy them even more in person. :)

Yeah, I can understand that.. When trading, people usually ask for certain char, so I, for example, went bananas with card for ~Strecno with his request being only "dragon" and "green and/or brown colour". It lets one's creative juices flow *-*

Yay, I hope I'll get the cards soon!

Yeah, it's sort of depressing to not finish something for a long time, isn't it? And then that feeling makes it harder to work on art when you finally do have the time... It's a vicious cycle that I'm trying my hardest to break!

I know! I have so many pieces of art that are either half finished (Or less) or still in my head just waiting to get out, and despite being on summer break, I have barely done anything with them. ~Shame~ T.T

they are all so cute!! It's nice to see artists draw animals that tend to escape most people's minds. Canines, felines, equines, and others seem to be in the lead for 'most-drawn-animal' but if you ask me, little unique creatures like these guys are so much more interesting! :D like seeing an exotic animal while you're going for a walk or something, it's neat, and unexpected and certainly worth looking at.
anyway, to the art itself! I reeeeeeeeeeeeally love that transition from one card to the next, it's beautifully done! and the animals themselves are beautiful as well~ I don't know if it's the texture of the pencil or what, but there's a nice short-fur texture in there (aside from the bushy tailed one) and it's very well done! and also, the colors all look very nice together~ it's hard for me to get warm and cool colors to come together like this, but you've really got it down brilliantly! I think the reddish hint in the quoll's fur kind of makes up the "heart" of the picture, or at least that's how I see it XD
... I'll quit blabbering about it now, but overall, very cute picture! (and I don't usually care for AECO's so this one's mighty good to catch my eye~)

Thanks! My awesome trade partner requested any animal that I wanted to draw, which I was extremely excited about. It gave me the opportunity to draw animals that I generally don't get the chance to. And you're right, canines, felines, and equines tend to take top billing when it comes to the amount of art produced featuring them. They're certainly great animals, but it's nice to step out of the box once in a while. :D

I'm really glad that you liked the cards, too. I really enjoyed the different colours and animals. And I like making more than one card at a time... maybe it's "cheating" a little, but it gives me more room to work.
